지구업보화

지구업보화는 인간의 일상적 욕망과 편리함을 위한 선택이 지구온난화를 일으키고, 재앙이 되어 인간에게 되돌아오는 과정을 불교의 업보로 해석한 프로젝트다. 불교에서 중생이 지켜야 할 보편적인 다섯 가지 규칙인 오계(五戒)를 현대의 환경 문제와 연결하고, 불화와 다섯 요괴 캐릭터를 결합해 이를 어긴 인간을 단죄한다. 요괴들은 인간의 행위를 심판하는 단죄자인 동시에, 일상의 욕망과 선택이 나비효과처럼 확산되어 인간에게 돌아오는 기후 재앙과 업보를 은유한다.

Global Karming explores how everyday desires and choices made for convenience fuel global warming and return as disasters through the Buddhist concept of karma. It links the Five Precepts, Buddhism’s five fundamental ethical principles, to environmental issues. Combining Buddhist painting with five yokai characters, the project portrays these beings as judges of human actions and symbols of climate disasters. They embody the karmic consequences of everyday choices that ripple outward like a butterfly effect and ultimately return to humanity.
