억압된 정체성

사회가 정한 기준과 규범에 의해 억눌리는 개인의 정체성을 다룬 프로젝트입니다. 성격, 성별, 계층, 신념, 성격, 문화 등 개인을 구성하는 요소들은 사회가 만들어낸 정상성과 적절함의 기준 안에서 끊임없이 평가됩니다. 이러한 기준은 보이지 않는 압력으로 작용하며, 개인은 타인의 시선과 판단을 의식해 자신의 모습을 감추거나 사회가 허용하는 방향으로 조정하게 됩니다. 본 작업은 우리 주변에 당연하게 존재해 온 사회적 기준과 규범이 개인의 고유한 정체성을 얼마나 강하게 억누르고 있는지 질문합니다.

This project explores the identity of individuals suppressed by society’s established standards and norms. The elements that make up an individual—such as personality, gender, class, beliefs, character, and culture—are constantly evaluated within the standards of normality and appropriateness established by society. These standards act as an invisible pressure, causing individuals to conceal their true selves or adjust in ways permitted by society, conscious of others' gaze and judgment
